Summer 2024 Polar Promotion

In-store Cooler Box Competition

  1. This competition is organised by Polar Ice Cream (the “Organisers”) and is open to all persons in the Republic of South Africa, except directors, members, business partners, employees, sales agents, advertising agency staff, advisors or consultants of the Organisers, service providers, and the immediate family members of all the foresaid (including, but not limited to, spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, and sisters).
  2. This competition is open to all South African citizens (a valid South African identity book is required).
  3. This competition is exclusive to Polar Ice Cream Shoppers.
  4. Proof of purchase during the promotional period, by means of a till slip, is required.
  5. The competition runs from December 2024 to 25 January 2025. The closing date for all entries for the prizes (as more fully described below) is midnight on 25 January 2025 (the “closing date”).
  6. By entering the competition, all entrants and prize winners agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of the competition, which will be interpreted by the Organisers in their sole, absolute, and unfettered discretion.
  7. The competition will be audited whereafter the Organisers’ decision regarding all matters relating to the competition will be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  8. The Organisers reserve the right to amend, modify or change these rules at any time during the competition.
  9. To enter the competition, the entrant must purchase any Polar Ice Cream product to the value of R150 or more, write their name and contact details on the back of the till slip, and place the till slip in the entry box provided.
  10. Only one entry per transaction (the transaction consisting of the purchase of R150 or more of Polar Ice Cream products) will be allowed.
  11. The prize consists of a shopper winning one of three cooler boxes filled with Polar Ice Creams in each participating Polar Ice Cream store. The selection of the ice cream that forms part of the prize and is included in the cooler box is at the sole discretion of the Polar Agent.
  12. The winner will be selected from all completed entry forms received and will be notified by telephone no later than 31 January 2025.
  13. The winner must acknowledge their winning status within 72 hours of being contacted by the Organisers.
  14. The prize is not transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.
  15. In the event that the prize is not claimed within six weeks of the winner being notified, it will be deemed null and void at no cost to the Organisers. The Organisers furthermore reserve the right to redraw the winner of a prize if a specific winner has not complied with the terms and conditions of the competition.
  16. The Organisers, in their sole, absolute, and unfettered discretion, reserve the right, prior to or after the selection of the winners, to curtail, cancel, and/or withdraw the competition and/or vary the prizes or the terms attaching to such prize at any time and without notice.
  17. The Organisers reserve the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions of entry or who tampers with the entry process or breaches these terms and conditions. Failure by the Organisers to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
  18. The competition shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
  19. The winner of the competition will be required to sign a consent that he/she will endorse, promote, and/or advertise the products of the Organisers. This includes an irrevocable performance release allowing the Organisers and their representatives to photograph and film the winner for promotional purposes related to the competition and the relevant products, without payment or additional compensation, for a period of 12 months.
  20. The competition shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
  21. Any person who has not yet attained the age of majority should be duly assisted by a parent or legal guardian in entering the competition and/or using any prize.
  22. By entering into this competition, all entrants and winners agree to indemnify the Organisers, their associated companies, all participating retail outlets, and employees, directors, members, partners, agents, and suppliers against any costs, damages, liability, penalties, or claims of any nature whatsoever arising out of their participation in the competition.
  23. The winner agrees to use and accept the prize at their own risk. If required by the Minister for Trade and Industry, the Lotteries Board, or for any other reason, the Organisers will be entitled to terminate the competition immediately without notice to entrants. In such an event, all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Polar Ice Cream.

#Summer Memories Digital Competition

  1. Organiser: This competition is organised by Polar Ice Cream (the “Organisers”) and is open to all persons in the Republic of South Africa, except directors, members, business partners, employees, sales agents, advertising agency staff, advisors or consultants of the Organisers, service providers, and the immediate family members of all the aforementioned (including, but not limited to, spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, and sisters).
  2. Eligibility: This competition is open to all South African citizens who are 18 years or older. A valid South African identity document is required to claim the prize.
  3. Competition Period: The competition starts on [insert start date] and ends at midnight on Wednesday, 15 January 2025.
  4. How to Enter: To enter, participants must:
    • Comment on the competition post with their “sweetest summer memory” using the hashtag #SweetSummerMemories.
    • Tag 2 friends in the comment.
    • Optionally, upload a picture to accompany their memory.
  5. Prizes: There will be 20 winners, each receiving a R500 Polar Ice Cream voucher. Winners will be selected at random from valid entries and will be notified via direct message on social media.
  6. Voucher Terms:
    • The R500 voucher is not transferable for cash and cannot be redeemed for cash or any other alternative.
    • Only one entry per person will be allowed.
  7. Use of Images: By uploading a picture as part of your entry, you grant Polar Ice Cream the right to use the image for promotional purposes for the next 12 months, without additional compensation. The image may be used on social media, in advertisements, or other marketing materials.
  8. Winner Notification: The winners will be selected and notified no later than Friday, 17 January 2025 via direct message. Winners must respond to claim their prize within 72 hours of being contacted. If a winner does not respond within this time frame, the prize will be forfeited and a new winner will be selected.
  9. Prize Delivery: Prizes will be sent to the winner’s email or postal address as provided during the notification process.
  10. Changes to the Competition: The Organisers reserve the right to amend, modify, or cancel the competition at any time, without prior notice.
  11. Liability: The Organisers are not responsible for any technical failures or interruptions, or for any injury or damage to participants arising from participation in the competition.
  12. Indemnity: By entering, all participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Polar Ice Cream, its employees, agents, and partners from any and all claims, damages, or liabilities arising from participation in the competition.
  13. Competition Law: The competition shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.
  14. Consent for Promotional Use: By entering this competition, winners agree to be photographed and filmed for promotional purposes without additional compensation for a period of 12 months.
  15. Privacy: The Organisers will not share personal information with third parties, except as necessary to administer the competition or deliver the prizes.
  16. Termination: The Organisers reserve the right to terminate the competition at any time without prior notice should circumstances require it.
